Working out what it costs

The headline rate is one of four numbers. Add the per-person charge above the included headcount — which ranges from nothing to a couple of thousand rupees a head depending on the property — then the platform fee, then divide by the group.

The security deposit is not a cost. It is refundable, collected on arrival and returned at check-out, but it is cash on the day and it needs a named person responsible for it.

Finding one yourself

The practical route is the app or the website: pick your city, pick the area if you know it, and filter on what your group actually needs — a private pool, a separate children's pool, covered seating, a kitchen you can use, parking for eight cars.

Chat is built into every listing, which means the answer to "can our caterer come in at nine" comes from the person who will actually open the gate. There is no agent in the middle relaying a version of the question, and no commission-hungry intermediary steering you towards whichever property they represent.

Practically, it is the fastest way to resolve the things a listing cannot cover — an early check-in, a decoration plan, whether a particular road floods, what the group before you got wrong.

The detail that makes a booking safe

What separates a good listing from a photograph is specificity, and it is worth using. Pool dimensions including depth, whether there is a separate children's pool, how many bedrooms have attached bathrooms, whether the kitchen is active, what the caretaker does, what is chargeable on top of the slot rate.
