HappyPlay, Olpad: The Cheapest Big-Garden Day Out Near Surat

A 2BHK farmhouse near Olpad listed for a hundred day guests, with a covered pool and a large private lawn. What it costs and where it compromises.

Olpad has the lowest price band of any Surat belt — roughly ₹2,800 to ₹8,800 across five properties, every one of them with a private pool. HappyPlay sits at the bottom of that range and lists one of the highest day capacities in the city.

That combination is unusual enough to be worth explaining properly, because on paper the numbers do not obviously go together.

A two-bedroom property that takes a hundred people

The listing is modest indoors and generous outdoors, which is the defining characteristic of this belt. Inside: two air-conditioned, fully furnished bedrooms, a living room with a sofa and air conditioning, and a kitchen with a fridge, gas stove and utensils. One attached bathroom and one common. There is an open terrace, Wi-Fi, private car parking, and extra mattresses available. Outside: a private swimming pool, a private lawn, and a kids' play area. The capacity figures follow directly from that. Fifteen overnight — which with two bedrooms means a good share of the group on mattresses — against a hundred for a day booking, because a day booking is constrained by garden, parking and washrooms rather than by beds. That gap is the whole proposition. This is a day-out property with somewhere to sleep attached, not a villa with a garden.

    The rates

    • Weekday: ₹4,185 half day  ·  ₹4,650 full day
    • Weekend: ₹6,510 half day  ·  ₹7,440 full day
    • Per additional person: ₹500
    • Refundable security deposit: ₹3,000 at check-in

The line worth noticing is the weekday gap between half day and full day: ₹465. That is close to nothing, and it means there is almost never a reason to book the half day midweek. Take the full day and get several extra hours for the price of a tank of fuel.

The weekend jump is steeper — around 55% — which for a movable occasion is the single largest saving available on this property. A Friday full day costs less than a Saturday half day.

At ₹500 a head above the included number, a large day booking here still lands at a per-person figure that very little else in Surat matches for a property with a pool and a lawn.

The covered pool, which matters twice a year

The pool here sits under a roof, and that is worth more in Gujarat than it sounds.

It solves two separate problems in two separate seasons. Between March and June, an uncovered pool in Surat is warm by two in the afternoon and the deck is too hot to walk on — which makes a lot of otherwise good properties unusable in exactly the months people most want to swim. And between June and September, a covered pool is usable in rain that makes an open one decorative.

Covered pools are a minority in this market and they are almost never flagged as a feature — you find them by going through the photo set. For a Surat booking in either of those windows, it is the single most useful thing to filter for, and it is not in the filters.

The rules, and where they bite

    • Outside food is permitted, which for a hundred-person day booking is the permission that matters most.
    • Bachelor groups are accepted, and guests of all religions.
    • Pets are not permitted.
    • Alcohol is not permitted.
    • ₹3,000 refundable deposit, collected at check-in.

The alcohol rule is the one most likely to change a decision, and it is worth being direct about it — for a family gathering or a children's birthday it is irrelevant or preferred; for a friends' evening it is a dealbreaker and better known now than at the gate.

    Where it compromises

Three places, all visible on the listing rather than hidden. The interiors are functional. Two bedrooms, a sofa, a TV. This is not a property you book for the photographs, and if the occasion is one where the space needs to look a certain way — an engagement, a shoot, a milestone birthday with a photographer — the Palsana end of the Surat market is a different product entirely and priced accordingly. The bathroom count is two. That is fine for fifteen and thin for eighty, and it is the practical constraint on the headline day capacity. If you are bringing a large crowd, ask what the actual arrangement is for a group that size before assuming the hundred figure is comfortable rather than merely permitted. And there is very little nearby. Olpad is agricultural — cane and paddy rather than shops — so a group needs to arrive with what it needs. The upside of the same fact is quiet: unlike the Dumas road, there is no weekend traffic and no crowd.

    Comparing what Surat offers

    PartyPatchDumas25 / 50₹9,800Private

Work the total out for your actual headcount before comparing these. Above roughly twenty guests the per-person charge reorders the list more often than not.

Who should book it, and the alternatives

Book it for a family day out of twenty-five to fifty with children, on a weekday, bringing your own food. At that specification it is close to unbeatable on price in Surat.

Also good for a small group of ten to fifteen staying overnight who want a cheap, quiet property with a pool and are content with two bedrooms and mattresses.

Look elsewhere if you need alcohol, you are bringing a dog, or the interiors matter.

Within the same belt, Glow & Flow is the step up — a 2BHK with a separate kids' pool, a gazebo with six swings, six charpai and a games box, at ₹6,231 for a weekday half day. Elsewhere in Surat, PartyPatch in Dumas takes fifty by day with a covered pool and a gazebo, and Mango in Kamrej pairs a private pool with a separate kids' pool and a play area with swings.

Getting there, and when to go

Olpad sits west of Surat towards the coast, thirty-five to forty-five minutes from most of the city on decent road. That matters more than it sounds for a day booking where elders are travelling and the group wants to be home by evening. The belt itself is genuinely agricultural. You are among cane and paddy rather than on the edge of a suburb, which is the difference between Olpad and the belts closer in, and in the monsoon it is properly green. The season shapes the booking. From October to February the garden is comfortable all day and the pool is warm enough to use — that is peak, and a weekend then needs three to four weeks' notice. March to May is the pool season, and the covered roof becomes the most important thing on the property. The monsoon is the quiet stretch and the cheap one, and the covered pool means it stays usable when a bare-lawn property does not. If your booking is movable at all, a weekday in the monsoon here is about as inexpensive as a private farmhouse with a pool and a lawn gets anywhere in the country.

    Reading the hundred-guest figure

A day capacity of a hundred against two bedrooms looks like an error and is not. Day bookings are constrained by space, parking and washrooms; night bookings by beds. The lawn, the garden and the covered pool are what the hundred figure is built on. What it means practically is that this property should be searched for on the day-time number and never on bedrooms. A family filtering for somewhere that sleeps thirty would never see it, and for a lunch for forty it is one of the better-value options in the city. It also means the two figures suit completely different bookings. At fifteen overnight you are a small group in a modest two-bedroom house with a good garden. At sixty by day you are running a function on a large lawn with a house attached. Decide which of those you are before you book, because the property performs very differently in each role — and the questions worth asking the owner are different too. For the overnight, ask about mattresses and bathrooms. For the function, ask about parking, washroom arrangements for a crowd, and where everybody goes if it rains.

    Frequently asked questions

Is outside food allowed at this Farmhouse?+

Yes, outside food and catering are allowed at this Farmhouse. You can also order from nearby restaurants in Olpad.

    What are the check-in and check-out timings?+

Check-in is at 10:00:00 and check-out is at 09:00:00. Early or late timing depends on availability.

    Swimming pool size?+

    15x12x5.5ft

Is this farmhouse or villa fully private or will it be shared with other guests?+

When you book HappyPlay in Olpad, the entire property is reserved exclusively for your group. You will not have to share the space with other guests.

    What does HappyPlay cost?+

The slot rate is ₹4,650 on a weekday and ₹7,440 at the weekend. Above the included headcount there is a per-person charge of ₹500 a head, which at a large group moves the total more than the base rate does.

    Is there a security deposit?+

Yes — ₹3,000, refundable, collected in cash at check-in and returned at check-out. It is not part of the online payment, so somebody in the group needs to be carrying it.

Can I book for the day without staying the night?+

Yes. Most properties sell a half day and a full day as well as an overnight, and the day slot is what a birthday or a family lunch usually needs. It is also why the day-time guest limit is often several times the sleeping capacity.

Is the whole property mine, or is it shared?+

The whole property is reserved for your group. The listings state this explicitly and the property FAQs repeat it — you are not sharing a pool or a lawn with another booking.
