Navsari and Ubharat: South Gujarat's Quieter Coastal Stays

Ubharat, Vesma, Kankaria and Manekpur — Navsari's farm stays sit between the Surat crowd and the Daman weekend. What is there and who it suits.

Navsari sits between Surat and Daman, and its farm stays occupy the gap between the two markets in more than just geography. Thirteen properties across seven pockets — quieter than Surat's belts, cheaper than Daman's villas, and with a coastline that almost nobody outside South Gujarat has heard of.

It is the least-marketed of the three, which is most of the reason to go.

Ubharat, and what a Gujarat beach actually is

Ubharat is the beach. Four of our thirteen Navsari properties are here, and it is the pocket people mean when they say they are going to Navsari for the weekend. Set expectations correctly and it is excellent. The Gujarat coast between Dandi and Daman is flat, tidal and casuarina-lined — long, empty, walkable, and completely unsuited to swimming. What it offers instead is an evening: the tide goes a long way out, the light in the last hour is unusually good, and there is almost nobody there. That is why every property here has its own pool. The sea is scenery and the pool is the swim, and any listing that suggests otherwise should be read carefully.

    The properties in Ubharat

Eco Haven is a two-bedroom villa for fifteen, with both bedrooms air-conditioned and en-suite, two extra bedding sets per room, a living room, a kitchen with a refrigerator and dining table, and a private pool. It runs two slots — a 10:00 AM check-in and a 10:00 PM one — at ₹7,905 for a weekday half day. It is a vegetarian property and alcohol is not permitted, which is worth knowing up front.

Wave Stone Retreat is the larger sibling: three en-suite air-conditioned bedrooms, a living room with a TV, a kitchen, a private pool, a garden and a kids' play area, for twenty guests. Same two-slot structure, and the same vegetarian and no-alcohol policy.

Both sit on the Ubharat side within reach of the beach.

Inland: Vesma, Manekpur and the rest

Vesma has the largest property in the whole South Gujarat set. Hanuman Stay runs to eight bedrooms with a listed day capacity of two hundred and sixty overnight, and has two pools — an adult pool at 22×40 ft and a children's pool at 22×18 ft — plus a rain-dance setup, a gazebo, a garden and a kitchen with utensils. Breakfast is available at a charge. It is a function venue rather than a weekend house, it is vegetarian-only, and at ₹44,100 for a weekend it is priced as one.

Manekpur, Kankaria, Tavdi and Endhal hold the rest — mostly two- and three-bedroom farmhouses for twelve to twenty, at prices around ₹6,000 to ₹13,000. JP Swarg in Manekpur is representative and is pet-friendly.

    What the numbers say

    • Eleven of thirteen have a private pool, and eight have a separate kids' pool — proportionally one of the best ratios for young families anywhere in our inventory.
    • Nine have a kids' play area. This is a family market, not a party market.
    • The median sits around ₹8,400, between Surat's ₹6,300 and Daman's ₹13,100.
    • The capacity spread is unusual — most properties take twelve to twenty, and then one takes two hundred. There is very little in between, so if your group is forty, Navsari is a difficult fit and Surat or Daman is easier.

    Who should book here

Families with young children, first. The combination of a kids' pool, a play area and a quiet beach within walking distance is specific and not easy to find elsewhere at this price. Couples and small groups from Surat wanting somewhere closer than Daman and quieter than Kamrej. The drive is under an hour from most of Surat. And anyone running a large vegetarian family function, for whom the Vesma property is one of a very small number of options in the region at that scale. It is the wrong choice if your weekend involves alcohol — a good number of properties here are strictly vegetarian and dry — or if you want restaurants and things to do in the evening. For that, Daman is forty minutes further and set up for it.

    What there is to do

Less than in Daman and more than in most farm belts, which is roughly the point of this stretch of coast.

    • The beach at Ubharat — long, casuarina-lined and usually empty. Best in the last hour of light. Not for swimming.
    • Dandi, up the coast towards Surat, for the historical association and a quieter stretch of sand.
    • Navsari town itself — the Parsi quarter and the old market are worth an hour if anyone in the group has an interest in it.
    • Fruit, in season. This is South Gujarat's orchard belt — chikoo around Gandevi and Bilimora, mangoes in April and May. Roadside buying is part of the drive.

Beyond that, the honest answer is that most groups who book here do so to sit somewhere quiet with their own people, and the properties are set up for that rather than for an itinerary.

Reading the vegetarian and alcohol position

A higher proportion of properties in this belt are vegetarian-only and do not permit alcohol than in almost any other market we list, and it is worth understanding rather than being caught by it. It is not arbitrary. South Gujarat has a large vegetarian population, Gujarat is a dry state, and these properties are built primarily for local family bookings. The rules reflect the guests the owners actually host. For a family gathering — which is what most Navsari bookings are — this is usually irrelevant or positively preferred. Nobody is inconvenienced and the food arrangement is simpler. For a friends' weekend built around an evening, it is a genuine constraint, and the honest options are to look at the properties here that do permit non-vegetarian food, or to go the extra forty minutes to Daman, which exists partly for this reason. Either way, read the position on the listing before booking. It is stated plainly on every property, it varies more than the geography suggests, and it is not something anybody wants to discover after unpacking. Worth adding that the same properties are often unusually good on the things that do matter to a family booking. Kitchens with utensils, extra bedding sets in every room, kids' pools, play areas, and owners who are entirely comfortable with three generations arriving at once. The Navsari inventory is built around exactly that guest, and it shows in the small details: extra bedding sets listed room by room, geysers in every bathroom, kids' play areas on nine of the thirteen properties. Those are things that only get itemised when an owner has hosted a great many large families, and they matter more on the day than anything visible in the photographs. If your group's requirements are a garden, a pool the children can stand up in, somewhere to cook and nobody minding the noise of twenty relatives, this belt is one of the better-matched markets in the country, and it is cheaper than either of its neighbours.

    Frequently asked questions

Is Private Swimming Pool is Available ?+

    Yes (15x30 ft)

Is this farmhouse or villa fully private or will it be shared with other guests?+

When you book Wave Stone Retreat in Ubharat, the entire property is reserved exclusively for your group. You will not have to share the space with other guests.

How many people can stay at this property?+

Wave Stone Retreat is suitable for group stays. The exact capacity depends on layout, so it's best to confirm guest limits before booking.

Is this a good option for a weekend getaway near Navsari?+

Yes, Wave Stone Retreat is ideal for weekend getaways near Navsari, offering a peaceful environment away from city crowds.

What does Wave Stone Retreat cost?+

The slot rate is ₹11,160 on a weekday and ₹12,090 at the weekend. Above the included headcount there is a per-person charge of ₹500 a head, which at a large group moves the total more than the base rate does.

    Is there a security deposit?+

Yes — ₹3,000, refundable, collected in cash at check-in and returned at check-out. It is not part of the online payment, so somebody in the group needs to be carrying it.

Can I book for the day without staying the night?+

Yes. Most properties sell a half day and a full day as well as an overnight, and the day slot is what a birthday or a family lunch usually needs. It is also why the day-time guest limit is often several times the sleeping capacity.

Is the whole property mine, or is it shared?+

The whole property is reserved for your group. The listings state this explicitly and the property FAQs repeat it — you are not sharing a pool or a lawn with another booking.
