New Year Party in Ahmedabad 2027 for Family: Private Farmhouse Guide

A family New Year party in Ahmedabad at a private farmhouse: where to book, costs by group size, house rules, menu, games, a plan and a checklist.

New Year's Eve 2026 is a Thursday, and New Year's Day 2027 a Friday, so families in Ahmedabad get a natural long weekend from 31 December to 3 January. Instead of a crowded ticketed event or a hotel banquet, more groups now book a private farmhouse on the edge of the city: a lawn for the countdown, a cook for the evening, games for the children, garba and Bollywood for everyone, and rooms to sleep in. This guide covers where Ahmedabad's private stays are, what they cost by group size, when to book, the house rules that matter, a family-friendly menu and plan for the night, and a full checklist.

Quick answer: Ahmedabad has fewer private stays than Surat, so book early, ideally in November. Most of BookMyFarm's Ahmedabad farmhouses are 30 to 60 minutes out, around Sanand, Kheda, Bareja, Hirapur and the SP Ring Road belt, and the largest take 30 to 45 guests.

New Year 2027: the dates that matter

DateDayWhat it means for your booking
    25 December 2026FridayChristmas: a three-day weekend from 25 to 27 December, often quieter than New Year's Eve
31 December 2026ThursdayNew Year's Eve: the most in-demand night of the season
1 January 2027FridayNew Year's Day: many people take it off, so 31 December to 3 January becomes a long weekend
2 and 3 January 2027Saturday and SundayThe tail of the long weekend: a calmer second night for families

If 31 December is gone, take the 1 to 3 January weekend or the Christmas weekend. And keep a lawn in mind for Uttarayan on 14 January, the biggest open-sky celebration of an Ahmedabad winter.

A family New Year in Ahmedabad: why a private farmhouse works

Search results for a New Year party in Ahmedabad are mostly event listings. For families, a private stay fixes the usual problems:

    • All ages together. No entry restrictions, a quiet room for grandparents, space for children to run.
    • Food your family eats. Pure vegetarian, Jain or non-vegetarian, it is your choice of cook, within the stay's rules.
    • Privacy. No strangers, no queues, your own playlist.
    • Value. For 20 to 30 people, the stay plus a caterer often costs less per head than event passes plus dinner, and includes a night's stay.
    • A slower 1 January. Breakfast together, a walk in the fields, games on the lawn.

Booking timeline: when to book a New Year stay in Ahmedabad

New Year's Eve is the one night of the year when almost every large private stay is booked at the same time. Rates for 31 December are usually set higher than a normal weekend, the biggest farmhouses and villas go first, and hosts become stricter about guest counts and deposits as the date gets closer. Because 31 December 2026 is a Thursday and 1 January 2027 a Friday, many groups will want two or three nights, which takes even more stays off the market. Read why New Year is booked in November for the longer version.

    WhenWhat to do
Late October to mid NovemberFix the guest count and budget, shortlist three or four stays, ask each host about the New Year rate, the minimum stay and the music timing. This is when you have the widest choice.
Mid to late NovemberBook and pay the advance. Get the New Year terms in writing: guest limit, check-in and check-out times, deposit and cancellation.
Early DecemberBook the cook or caterer, decor, the DJ or sound set-up if the house allows it, and cabs for late-night travel.
Mid DecemberSend the final guest list to the host. Confirm what the house provides (bonfire wood, heaters, blankets, utensils).
Last week of DecemberBuy groceries and decor, charge speakers and lights, share the location pin and the house rules with every guest.
After 20 DecemberLast-minute choice is thin. Look at smaller villas, weekday dates (29 or 30 December) or the 2 to 3 January weekend instead.

Ahmedabad's stock is small: 14 live stays at the time of writing, and only a handful take 30 or more guests. For a big group, treat November as your deadline, or split the group across two nearby stays.

New Year party budget in Ahmedabad, by group size

The table below uses the live BookMyFarm listings in Ahmedabad at the time of writing. "Typical rate" is the middle half of normal-weekend full-day prices for stays that can take that many guests; New Year's Eve is usually priced above this, so treat it as a floor and check the 31 December rate on each listing.

GroupStays that fitTypical rate (normal weekend)Stay cost per head
    10 guests12 stays₹11,000 to ₹20,000about ₹1,100 to ₹2,000 per head
    15 guests7 stays₹19,000 to ₹20,000about ₹1,300 per head
    30 guests4 stays₹13,000 to ₹20,000about ₹400 to ₹700 per head
    45 guests1 stayabout ₹11,000about ₹200 per head

On top of the stay, plan for these costs:

    • Food: a cook at the house, a caterer, or ordered-in food. Ask two or three caterers for a per-plate quote for 31 December; rates on that night are often higher than usual.
    • Decor and lights: fairy lights, a photo backdrop, balloons and table decor can be done cheaply yourself, or by a decorator for more.
    • Music: many stays list a sound system; a DJ with lights costs extra and needs the host's approval.
    • Security deposit: refundable, but it ties up money until after checkout. See how the final bill and deposit work.
    • Travel: fuel or cabs both ways, and late-night cabs for anyone not staying over.

The simplest way to keep it fair is to add everything up and divide by heads: stay, food, decor, music, travel, plus a small buffer for extras.

House rules for a New Year party: music, noise and guest count

Most disagreements on New Year's Eve come from rules nobody read in advance. Ask about each of these before you pay, and get the answers in writing on the booking chat.

    • Music cut-off: outdoor amplified music late at night is restricted under India's noise rules, and how late you can play on New Year's Eve depends on the property, the neighbourhood and any local notice for that night. Do not assume "till 1 am" or "all night". Agree the timing with the host, and plan to move indoors or lower the volume when asked.
    • Noise and neighbours: many farmhouses sit near villages or other farms. Point speakers away from boundary walls and keep the last hour quieter.
    • Guest count: the listing shows how many guests the stay takes. On New Year's Eve, hosts often count guests at the gate; extra guests can be refused or charged.
    • Day guests vs overnight guests: some stays take more people in the day than overnight. Check both numbers if part of the group will leave after midnight. See how day and overnight slots work.
    • Firecrackers and sky lanterns: many hosts do not allow them at all because of dry grass, thatch and animals. Ask first and follow local rules.
    • Outside food, cooks and DJs: some stays let you bring a caterer or DJ, some have their own, some charge a fee. Ask.
    • ID: hosts usually need ID for every adult guest staying the night.
    • Check-in and check-out: a late checkout on 1 January is valuable; ask if it is possible.
    • Gujarat rules: Gujarat is a dry state, so plan a family-style party around food, mocktails, music and games. Follow the house rules on the listing and anything the host asks.

Read our farmhouse party rules guide on music timing and DJs and house rules explained before you book. This is a general guide, not legal advice.

Menu, music and decor for an Ahmedabad family New Year

    A winter menu

    • Welcome: hot soup or masala chai, with khakhra, dhokla and handvo.
    • Live counters: pav bhaji, a Manek Chowk-style sandwich and pizza counter, chaat, or a barbecue grill for paneer tikka and corn.
    • Dinner: undhiyu and puri (late December is undhiyu season), a Gujarati thali, or a Punjabi main course for variety.
    • Midnight: a 2027 cake, jalebi, and hot chocolate or kesar badam milk.
    • Mocktails: virgin mojito, kokum sherbet, guava with chilli, fresh lime soda and a fruit punch.
    • Breakfast on 1 January: fafda-jalebi, poha, thepla and chai.

Ask whether the stay has a cook, allows an outside caterer, and allows non-vegetarian food if you plan to serve it. Several Ahmedabad stays list the kitchen and cooking rules on the listing.

    Music

Most of the larger Ahmedabad farmhouses list a sound system. A garba round goes down well with every age group in Ahmedabad, followed by Bollywood. If you want a DJ, ask the host first; then plan the loudest hour before midnight and a softer set after the countdown.

    Decor

    • Fairy lights, lanterns along the paths and a "2027" photo wall.
    • Bandhani dupattas or block-print fabric as table runners for a Gujarati touch.
    • A bonfire circle with mats and shawls, where the host allows a fire.
    • A children's table with craft kits, balloons and small gifts.

    2. Budget: total and per head, agreed before anyone books.
    3. Stay: shortlist by size, distance from Ahmedabad and the house rules; book the one that fits all three.
    4. New Year terms in writing: rate, minimum stay, guest limit, deposit, cancellation, check-in and check-out.
    5. Music timing: what time outdoor music has to stop or move indoors.
    6. Food plan: cook, caterer or order-in; a midnight cake; breakfast on 1 January.
    7. Beverages: Mocktails, fresh juices, hot chocolate, masala chai and plenty of water.

    12. Safety: first-aid kit, torch, the host's number, the nearest hospital, a plan to keep children away from the pool at night.
    13. Transport: who drives, who stays, cabs booked in advance for late returns.
    14. Clean-up: garbage bags, and a plan to leave the house as you found it so the deposit comes back.

    Safety on New Year's Eve

    • Pool at night: keep the pool off-limits after dark, especially for children. Most pools are unheated in winter anyway. See the pool safety checklist and heated pools and winter swimming.
    • Bonfire: only where the host provides a spot, away from tents, decor and dry grass, with water or sand nearby. Read bonfire safety at a winter farmhouse.
    • Heaters and wiring: do not overload extension boards with lights, speakers and heaters; switch heaters off when you leave a room.
    • Roads: Avoid long drives after midnight; plan to stay over, or book cabs in advance and choose a rested driver.
    • Children and older guests: one adult on watch at a time, a quiet room for anyone who wants to sleep before midnight.
    • Valuables: keep phones, wallets and car keys in one room.
    • Winter nights: late-December nights near Ahmedabad can be chilly in open farmland; carry sweaters and shawls for children and elders.

After the party: 1 January and the rest of the season

On New Year's Day, stay late if the host allows it, or head back for an afternoon in the city. In recent years the Kankaria Carnival has run in the last week of December; check this year's dates and timings if you want to add it to your trip. For birdwatchers, Thol lake is a short drive from the stays on that side of the city in winter.

Two weeks later comes Uttarayan on 14 January, when Ahmedabad's sky fills with kites. A farmhouse with an open lawn, undhiyu and chikki makes a good family base for it. Which Ahmedabad farmhouse takes the most guests?+

Winter Gujarati food works well: undhiyu and puri, dhokla, handvo, live pav bhaji or chaat, a midnight cake, a mocktail counter, and fafda-jalebi for breakfast.

Are firecrackers allowed at farmhouses near Ahmedabad?+

Many hosts do not allow them. Ask the host and follow local rules.
